Twilight

Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My review

This book reminds me a lot of Angel (the series that was on the WB). But of course, I can't help but fall in love with a good vampire-based novel. They happen to be my favorite.

I have to admit, Twilight sucked me in, I resisted the craze for a while but couldn't help but decide to read book 1 before I bought the rest. I read it in one night, 500+ pages and six hours of insomnia later I wanted to find book 2.

The story of Bella and Edward falling in love was great. Perhaps it was just a little too idealistic though. Everything goes well, she's not afraid, he didn't really resist to her knowing that he was a vampire. It has a good story line to it so far but you sort of know what's going to happen. That can be a good and bad thing I guess.

Blogging Addition: So I've gone out and bought New Moon but I haven't started it. I've decided to read Eragon first. Anyway, back to Twilight. It was a good teenage love story. I think it could use a little bit more detail in some places. You can tell it was written for a teen audience though so I guess I shouldn't expect too much out of it. It definitely has me hooked and wanting to read more.

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress Book 1)

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1) Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

My review

rating: 4 of 5 stars
I also happen to be a fan of romance novels. I know I have a wide assortment of genres that I'm interested in. Halfway to the Grave was a great book for the first in the Night Huntress series. It's a new series for me (obviously).

I brought this book with me to NY for the weekend and finished it within two days. I really really enjoyed it! Just the perfect combination of action and romance. It could almost not be a romance novel and there weren't too many mushy love scenes with dirty words.

I'm definitely going to get the next book in this series when I get a chance. A nice twist on vampire love stories. She's a half-breed vampire who falls in love with a really old vampire and together, they kick ass and kill other vampires. I know sounds cheesy but I promise it has a little more story in it than that.

Blog Addition: I haven't read a romance novel in a while so this was a lot of fun for me to read. A nice addition to my rotation of novels of late. From sci-fi fantasy, to comedy to romance. What fun! This book just kept me reading over and over again. I'm always such a sucker for a good romance novel.

Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid

Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid by Denis Leary

My review

Denis Leary has always been one of my favorite comedians. Now, writing as Dr. Denis Leary, and yes, he included a copy of his diploma in the book, he explains and puts to paper all of life's gripes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it made me laugh over and over again. Note, if you don't have a sense of humor or get offended easily, don't read this book. It's not for you. I don't agree with everything Leary wrote about, however, I find his writing style humorous and I love how he presents his point of view.

I haven't laughed while reading a book in a long time, this was definitely worth it and I highly recommend it.

Blogging Addition: So, if it weren't for my former fiance Michael (RIP Sweetheart) I never would've gotten around to reading this book. See Michael was a HUGE Denis Leary fan, he introduced me to his comedy. Oh, we had some good times watching Denis Leary's acts over and over again on television. Therefore, I read this for you Michael and it was hilarious. You definitely would've loved it. I think my favorite section might've been on kids. He has some great stories from when he was growing up that really make you laugh. All in all, great read.

Next book to finish: Wyrd Sisters by Terry Prachett
